On Saturday, we went with Tiffany, Adam and Rock to the State Fair. The fair is one of my favorite traditions, but it's weird to go this late in the year. Usually in Boise, it's around my birthday so we would go with family or friends to the Western Idaho State Fair.
This year was the first year however that I didn't go on a single ride. And there were so many I wanted to go on. It would've been way too expensive because they didn't offer an unlimited ride bracelet/pass so I'd have to pay for each ride individually. Also, I was the only one that wanted to do a ride and didn't want everyone to have to wait on me to get my thrills. I decided I'd save that ride money for when I got to Six Flags Over Texas...someday.
We rode the DART (so maybe that was my ride for the day) to the fair so we didn't have to pay $15 for parking!! That's ridiculous. Especially on top of a $16 admissions ticket and that is just to get to the fair and get in. That's $31 already. Then if you want to ride any rides or eat anything, you pay! Todd and I realized how expensive the fair really is. Thank you mom and dad for using your life savings to take the family to the fair. Goodness.
TJ really liked the DART since he loves trains, buses, trucks and planes. He did the biggest surprised face everytime a train passed and pointed as hard as he could.
I'm trying to remember all the food we tried between the 6 of us. The two boys didn't eat much of the fried stuff but tried some.- Chicken fried bacon
- Corny dogs x 2
- Hot wings
- Deep fried s'mores
- Deep fried cookie dough
Buffalo chicken flapjacks - A buffalo chicken strip is coated in flapjack batter, rolled in jalapeno bread crumbs, deep fried to a golden brown, skewed, and served with a side of syrup. Crowd pleasing appetizer or a meal in itself! (Best food at the Fair)
All that food was $40. Not a lot of food for the price but it was good food. :)

It was a lot of walking and when we were heading back to the front gate, my flip flop broke. Unwearable. So Todd, being the gentleman that he is, gave me his flip flops and he walked bare footed back. We left at about 5 along with everyone else in the park. The DART was STUFFED full and we had to wait a full train or two to get on.
On the way home, TJ was entertaining some people on the DART. We didn't realize it for a little bit. He was sitting in his stroller drinking his water, well Rock's water, and would get some in his mouth and then push it out or just let it dribble out. Then the people would laugh, egging him on. By the time we noticed, the front of his shirt was soaked. :)
We got home, ate some real food and gave the two boys a bath. Todd washed his feet and we watched some Ranger ball. Then Tiff and Adam went home. It was a good day with fun memories.![]() |
