Hunting Season Open!!

Todd has been totally syked about the hunting season. He's been duck and grouse hunting so far. He has a moose tag with his friend Brandon Kuhns this year and they are going out with a distinguished hunter friend, Jay Hays.

Todd went duck hunting on opening day at Beaver Dick Park in the wildlife management area. He went with Brandon and they met up with a mutual friend, Josh Holmstead. They limited out (aka 7 ducks per shooter) that morning! They had most of them in the first hour. He's going out again tomorrow morning since he doesn't have classes Tuesdays and Thursdays. :)

Making sure they are all there...all fourteen of them. My two favorite things about duck hunting season is a happy hubby and good food. I've been waiting all year to have our fabulous duck and pepperoncinis wrapped in bacon and fried. This year we also tried duck with mushrooms and onions, wrapped in bacon. YUMMY!

He just got back from sage grouse hunting tonight after classes with an accounting buddy, Jace. The limit with those is two per shooter. Funny story. They were hunting and Todd had gotten one already, his sage grouse. Jace went off with the gun (they only had Todd's gun because Jace accidently brought his hunting rifle!) and shot his two. They found a big flock and it was almost time to leave but Todd still needed his last one. He shot and didn't see anything fall so he shot again before they all flew away. Then he saw two fall. There were actually three dead birds. They were three sharp-tailed grouse in two shots! Nice work! He thought they were in big trouble but later realized that they were different types of grouse so it's ok. Grouse season ends on Sunday so this is one of the last times they get to go.
