Decorated for Christmas!!

I can't believe there's only 4 more days left in November! It's nuts! Well, I decorated my house with my Christmas stuff. It was fun and only took about 10 mins {we don't have much stuff}. Here's the pictures I took on my new IPHONE! :)

I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was great. Ours was. We had Todd's family in town for a week. Todd's sister Tiffany lives about 45 mins away and we had dinner there. I cooked green bean casserole with bacon, cheesy mashed potatoes, and rolls.

It was nice! Full of gratitude, love and food!

First Half of November

Here's the boys in their Skeletor jammies. I love when they match.
 Love love love this pic!

Grandpa Laney came down to play with us for a little bit. We went out to dinner then afterwards we came outside and the boys found PUDDLES! We gave in and let them play to their hearts content! It was pretty funny to watch them. They didn't care one bit that they were a little muddy and wet and kinda cold. It was all fun! Grandpa even got in with them and splashed a little!

TJ loves feeding himself. Sometimes he doesn't even eat at all unless he's doing it himself. He loves yogurt and this is what he looked like one morning after finishing. I don't know if you can tell, but it's all over his face, hair, arms and hands. :) Yum.

1 Craft Down, A Few To Go

I've been sewing quite a few crafts lately and I just completed one. I have 2  more that I've started but still haven't finished. I'll post those when I'm done.

This one was something I've been wanting to do for years. I made rag letters of TJ's name and put them over his crib. {thank goodness he only has 2 letters in his name or it would've taken me so much longer}.

Danielle Kuhns did this for Makayla and she got the idea from a blog I can't find right now.

Here's his crib now.

Then Target was having a sale on this organizational unit. I love it. He's got all his toys organized in the little boxes {doesn't mean they stay that way...but still}. It's helped his room look a lot neater.

I'm kinda trying to move his room to a more blue and brown color scheme vs. the green, orange and yellow of the jungle theme from when he was a baby. I want to make a new bumper and changing table pad to match the new color scheme. I hope it all turns out the way I want.

Halloween 2011

TJ and I go to Music Makers every Friday held at the Church. It's a fun place where moms and kids learn fun songs and finger plays and dance around and play instruments. Anyway, on Friday they wanted us to all dress up in our costumes. It was fun so TJ and I dressed up as BamBam and Betty Rubble. He's still getting used to hanging out with a bunch of people.

Then we had our ward Halloween party, but everyone was supposed to dress up like our favorite scripture hero. We wanted to wear the costumes I'd spent so much time on so we did. We said, "We are Nephi and his son and I am someone from the great and spacious building," when someone wanted a scripture answer. I think we look pretty darn cute.
Our little BamBam. His nickname in the womb was BamBam so we decided to do that this year. He looks so cute! And the stitches make it look like he got in a fight. "You should see the other guy!" ;)

Todd handing TJ his bat
Todd was Barney. I guess he should've dyed his hair blonde, but he had the 5 o'clock shadow for it! I made TJ's and Todd's costumes, both without a pattern and I think they turned out great! I bought my dress at Ross and made my accessories.

On Halloween, we were invited to the Miguel's house {new friends in the ward} for a FHE Halloween party. I was so excited and we dressed up again and went to their house at 6. No one else showed up until 7 and that was just 1 other family {the Anderson's}. Then at about 7:30, the Topham's came after trick or treating. There were supposed to be like 7 families there. We chatted and had fun. We didn't need it to be big, but I did feel back for Andrea who put so much effort into the decor and games and treats.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

One, Two, Three, Four Stitches

I was making TJ's Halloween costume and wanted him to try it on. I took off his pants and put his BamBam skirt on. It fit perfectly so I took it off and never put his pants back on. I kept sewing and then decided to take care of some clothes from the laundry. I picked up the huge pile and headed to my room. He followed me like a puppy right by my legs. I couldn’t see him and I ran into him. He fell over and his head hit the top of the bed frame.

He started screaming. I dropped the clothes and was right there to comfort him. I saw where he hit because it was a huge indent and it was white and purple. I felt so bad.

But then it started bleeding...

Blood oozed from the spot and I freaked out. Oh gosh! Oh crap! What do I do? What do I do? Then I told myself to calm down and think logically. I was the only one who could take care of TJ right then, so that’s what I did. I knew head wounds were important, bled a lot and needed stitches more than other places. I didn’t know if my pediatrician did stitches so I decided to go there first to avoid an expensive E.R. trip. I made sure I had my insurance info and put a towel to TJ’s head. He wasn’t wearing pants and I hadn’t put a bra on yet and didn’t take the time to. We rushed out the door. I got to the pediatrician and both receptionists were on the phone, talking so politely to the clients and taking their time even though one of them saw TJ’s bleeding head! Did this not look like an emergency? Did I not look freaked out and impatient? She ended her phone call and said, “Can I help you?” GOODNESS! That was frustrating. I explained and she looked at the wound and said that he’ll need stitches and all the doctors are out to lunch and they don’t do stitiches anyway, or something. All I really heard was, go to the emergency room. So I took off and called Todd once I knew what I was doing. I broke down and cried on that phone call. Sobbed more like it. But it was good because I got it out and was able to think and talk clearly once I got to the E.R. Todd came right home from work. This was about 1:40 pm.

I got to the E.R. and they checked us in and we waited. TJ’s head wasn’t really bleeding anymore, just kind of oozing so I would dab it every once in a while. He was acting normal and making the other patients smile. I bet a happy baby noise isn't one nurses hear every day working in the E.R. I didn't think Todd would make it in time to be here for the stitches so I told him it wasn't a big deal if he came. It would take 30 mins for him to come and we'd be home by then, right? WRONG! Todd got there when we were still in the waiting room.

Finally after having 2 nurses do check ups on him and asking questions, they took us up to the E.R. room. (One nurse I told the story to asked, "You didn't knock him over on purpose did you?" WHAT?!!? Seriously!?! After that, the story became, "he fell".) That was about 2:30. "The Doctor will be right in..." WORST WORDS EVER!! Now, I don't know if these nurses know that E.R. rooms are not baby proof and not a fun, conducive place for a 1 year old to wait in for 2 hours. Just sayin'.

After keeping TJ busy with what random things I had in my diaper bag, after eating all the Cheerios and playing catch until we were about to admit ourselves, the doctor came in numbed TJ's head and left. We waited again and TJ hit his head on the sink twice...it was one of those sinks that was just the sink and all the piping was left exposed, yeah, that sink was head level for a little kid and he was running to get the ball a few times and was so excited and BAM! Hit the porcelain just an inch away from his cut! Tears and screaming commenced.

When they were ready to do the procedure, they did show us a cool "children's straightjacket." It was a pillowcase and they put it behind TJ and put his arms in it, then they laid him down and his weight helped to keep his arms down so he wouldn't reach up and grab. Todd had to step behind the curtain or he would've fainted so that left me with holding TJ's body and comforting him.

He was terrified. The big light was shining right in his eyes, he couldn't move his little body and someone with latex gloves was holding his head still. The doctor's face was right in his with a bunch of tools. That's a scary situation for some ADULTS let alone a 1 year old kid. He was crying but it wasn't out of pain anymore, it was fear. I started crying because I hated seeing him scared with me not being able to pick him up and love him. I had to be part of the fear by holding him down. I spoke softly to him the whole time and he calmed down but every once in a while he'd sob.We left the E.R. at 4:45. If he would've been bleeding hard, he would've bled to death! We'll see what the bill looks like.

He was so brave and was a trooper through the whole day. The stitches are out now and the Steri-strip just needs to be on for 1 more day. Hopefully it doesn't leave a big scar, but if it does, I'm sure he'll think it's cool.
This was maybe 10 mins before

Once we got home
